Timber Rattlers’ Omar Garcia Tops SportsCenter’s Top Plays

APPLETON, Wis.–

It was another win for the Timber Rattlers on Wednesday as they continue their climb back up to .500. The win was not the story of the game, and neither was the six-inning, three-hit performance for Rattlers’ pitcher Barrett Astin. The story of the game was a speedy play made by an outfielder not named Johnny Davis.

Center fielder Omar Garcia saw a fly ball hit deep to center field, and it looked like there was no chance for either Garcia or left-fielder Jose Pena to get there. It was a last-second decision, but Garcia laid out, arm across his body, and somehow caught the ball. The Chris Mehring call basically summed up the thoughts of anybody watching it.

This play ended up being number-one on ESPN’s “SportsCenter Top Ten Plays.” It’s not often that you see a single A team on ESPN, let alone a Wisconsin team. Good for Omar, and good for the T-Rats to get another win.
