Packers: The Back-Up Quarterback is…

GREEN BAY, Wis.–

You want answers, I get it, we all do. Is there really a clear-cut winner for the back-up quarterback position on the Green Bay Packers? Well, no, there isn’t. Most teams wish they were in the position where the back-up quarterback position is their greatest concern, debatably like the Packers.

Scott Tolzien and Matt Flynn both played pretty well throughout the preseason, but it seemed like Tolzien was always one step ahead. It seemed like Flynn was making the average back-up quarterback plays, but Tolzien was making them better.

In Thursday’s final preseason game, Tolzien and Flynn were the only two quarterbacks that saw action for the Packers. Flynn was the starter, and went 7-for-15, 102 yards, and two touchdowns, while Tolzien threw 12-for-18, 139 yards, and two touchdowns in the 34-14 victory.

I’ve heard it’s not a guarantee that both quarterbacks are going to be kept on the active roster, which wouldn’t shock me. Both of these guys are back-up quarterbacks, but Scott Tolzien is the Packers.
