My thank you to Tramon Williams

Green Bay, Wis–

Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams signed with the Cleveland Browns Monday afternoon after nine seasons as a Packer, which was also his 32nd birthday. Now as I am sure you know the Packers seem to have a thing for youth and simply have turned this Green Bay Packers operation into a youth movement, which I am one of the first to say “In Ted We Trust”, so I will simply do just that.

Multiple reports were that the Packers had offered Williams a two year, eight million dollar deal and he turned it down. Just a few days ago Williams took a free agent visit to New Orleans to meet with the Saints and many thought he would return to his home state of Louisiana to likely finish his career. Yesterday it was reported that Tramon Williams was in Cleveland to meet with the Browns, and well here we are.

Tramon Williams signed with the Packers on November 29th, 2006 as a young undrafted cornerback out of Louisiana Tech who was simply overlooked and spent time prior on the Houston Texans practice squad in 2006. Tramon Williams  fought and battled from 2007-2009 just to secure a roster spot on the Packers, and as they say the rest is history. Tramon Williams became a starter in 2009 as he stepped in for the injured Al Harris and Williams never looked back.

Basically my whole point here is to sincerely thank Tramon Williams for his nine seasons as a Green Bay Packer. I was fortunate enough to meet Williams multiple times and I have nothing but great things to say. To me Tramon Williams is “Packer People” as we say and he will always be looked at as a Green Bay Packer to me. There aren’t a ton of players in todays NFL who spend nine seasons with one team or who you say “man it will be weird seeing someone else wear his jersey number”, both of those uncommon statements apply to Tramon Williams.
