WATCH: Denmark’s Umentum, Pelischek Speak on Regional Title

DENMARK, Wis.–

For the fifth straight season, the Denmark High School and Luxemburg-Casco High School boys baseball team’s were matched up in regionals.  For the second straight season, the regional title was on the line between the top-ranked team in all of division two and the Spartans of Luxemburg-Casco.

The Vikings beat the rival Spartans behind the arms of Riley Pelischek (6 1/3 IP, 9Ks, 7H, 2ER) and Tanner Umentum (2/3 IP, 1K). Pelischek loaded the bases in both the sixth and seventh, getting out of the sixth clean. In the seventh, he went to his secondary position in right field, while Umentum went to the mound. Umentum let the first guy he faced line drive into an out. Umentum was one out away from a regional title and he knew that. With a 3-2 count, bases loaded, and two outs, Umentum threw a perfect pitch into the strike zone. Swing and a miss and the Vikings were crowned regional champions with a final score of 3-2.
