Three contracts the Packers may want to extend before the season

Green Bay, Wis–    The Packers will enter the 2015 season with a few expiring contracts that I think they should definitely consider addressing before it gets too late as players, agents, and even the team don’t like and usually will not discussing contracts during the season.

As you may know the Packers are an organization that likes to re-sign their own and reward their own players with a contract, also known to some as “The Packer Way”, which I see nothing at all wrong with that way of business at to me that’s how it should be done across the NFL.

The Packers have by far one of the best in the business when it comes to Russ Ball and a general manager in Ted Thompson that has done nothing but reassure myself that the Packers are set up for success not only now but in the future, and that’s simply not the case in many NFL markets.

Here are the three expiring contracts I think the Packers should look at addressing:

  1. Mike Daniels…Mike Daniels is as underrated as there is in the NFL. Daniels adds a lot of intensity to the Packers defense, and honestly I think that’s exactly what the Packers need on that side of ball. Daniels seems to like it in Green Bay, and if the Packers could get a “hometown discount” from him I think they have to move quickly before his stock continues to rise.
  2. Casey Hayward…The Packers are deep at cornerback, but at the same time very unproven. Hawyard brings sort of a veteran presence now with the departure of both Tramon Williams and Davon House. Yes injuries have been a problem for Hayward but he has shown he is a valuable part of the defense when he is on the field.
  3. Mason Crosby…The kicker position is about as valuable as their is in my opinion. Mason Crosby for the most part has filled the bill pretty nicely for the Packers. It’s not only difficult kicking in the NFL, but try kicking in some of the weather that Crosby has had to deal with. Contracts for kickers in the NFL aren’t extremely loaded so the Packers should look to extend Crosby for what should likely be a good value for what they’ll get in return.
